Paper Sizes
At Scanning Direct we scan documents ranging in paper size from A6 to A0. Our scanning equipment can scan small bits of paper to large architects plans in black & white and full colour.
Scanning Formats
For archive scanning we are generally asked to scan as Tiff (Tag Image File Format) or PDF (Portable Document Format), which are the most commonly used format. However we do scan in other formats dependent on client requirements.
Scanning Resolution – DPI (dots per inch)
Throughout the scanning industry 200dpi is considered to be an acceptable industry standard. Scanning Direct however like to offer our clients a higher level of resolution and therefore use 300dpi as a starting point to ensure quality and customer satisfaction.
Colour Scanning
In most cases it is not necessary to scan documents in colour as black & white is quite sufficient. However there are documents i.e. reports, brochures, drawings, presentation and photographs and would make no sense unless they are scanned in colour. As part of our service we pay attention to the documents scanned and make sure that any that need the benefit of colour are scanned accordingly.
Data Storage
After scanning the digital images are burned to CD/DVD or hard drive, verified and then forwarded to the client. This data can also be provided for download via our scan-to-web service. All data is retained on our servers until the client confirms that they have backed up their files and are happy for us to delete our copy.
